Late arrivals
Quorum can mark a check-in late rather than present once a set number of minutes have passed since the session started.
Set the threshold
The late threshold lives with the rest of your grading settings, per group — not on each session. Set it once and it applies to every session in that group.
Set late after to the number of minutes past the session start after which arrivals count as late.
Leave it empty and nobody is ever marked late; every successful check-in is simply present.
How late differs from present
Only in two ways, and both matter:
It is visible. The session record and the student's record both show late separately from present, so a pattern is legible instead of buried.
It scores differently. Late carries its own grade value — by default half of present. See How the attendance grade is calculated.
When you are setting a threshold, Quorum reminds you what late is currently worth in this group, so you are not setting a rule blind.
Choosing a number

Bear in mind your check-in window is doing related work. A 15-minute session duration with a 10-minute late threshold gives students a five-minute band in which they can check in but will be marked late — which is usually the intent.
Changing it mid-term
Changing the threshold affects how sessions are evaluated going forward. It is not a retroactive re-grade of the term so far.
If you tighten it in week eight, tell the class. A student who was arriving at minute nine every week without penalty and is suddenly late has a fair complaint if it happened silently.
Marking someone late by hand
An override can set late directly, whatever the threshold did. Use it for the student who was genuinely held up and told you so. See Fix an attendance record.
