The activity log

A group's Activity tab lists every change to its marks and attendance, and every deletion, with who did it and when. It is the answer to "who changed this mark", and to "it used to say absent".

Newest entries are at the top; Show older loads more.

Grade entries come from saving the grade table — scores you typed, or imported into it from a spreadsheet.

What it does not record

  • Check-ins. A scan is its own record, on the session.
  • Marks written by an exam. A submitted exam puts its score straight into the grade table; the attempt itself is the record. See Review attempts.
  • Deleting a whole assessment. The assessment and its marks go without a line per mark.
  • Anything before the log existed. It starts from the day the feature reached your account, not from the start of term.

An empty log says Nothing has been changed here yet. If it says The activity log could not be read instead, that is a loading failure, not an empty log — try again.

Using it in a dispute

When a student says a mark changed, find the assessment and the student in the log. You will see each value it held, who set it and when. That is a fact you can show, rather than a recollection you have to defend.

For an attendance override, the log shows who set the status and when; the note you gave is on the session record next to the student.

TA note

TAs can read the activity log, and their own changes appear in it under their name. Nothing in the log can be edited or removed — not by a TA, and not by the owner.
