Glossary
Classes and attendance
Group — one class you teach: one course, one section. Students, sessions, coursework and exams all belong to a group. See Create a group.
Session — one meeting of a group, with its own QR code and attendance. See How attendance works.
Category — whether a session is a lecture or a tutorial. Set by who starts it: owners start lectures, TAs start tutorials. See Lectures and tutorials.
Check-in — a student scanning the QR code and entering their university ID.
Rotating QR code — the code on screen changes every few seconds, so a forwarded photo stops working.
Status — present, late, excused or absent: what a session's record says for one student.
Late threshold — how many minutes after a session starts a check-in counts as late. Set per group in the grading policy.
Override — setting a student's status by hand. Works on absent students and on earlier hand-set records; QR check-ins are locked. See Fix an attendance record.
Excused — absent with a reason you accept. It has its own grade value.
Geofence — an optional rule that a check-in must come from within a radius of where you started the session. See Set a location geofence.
Violation — a check-in Quorum refused or flagged: out of range, duplicate device, or similar device. See How Quorum stops proxy check-ins.
Timetable — the weekly slots a group meets in, used to report which classes were held and which were missed. See Set a timetable.
Activity log — the record of every mark changed, override set and deletion in a group. See The activity log.
Student portal — the page where a student with an email on your roster reads their own attendance. See Let students see their own attendance.
Marks
Grading policy — what each status is worth, plus the late threshold, for one group. See Set what attendance is worth.
Assessment — one graded thing: a quiz, an assignment, a final. It has a type, a max score and a track.
Type — which of the eight assessment kinds an assessment is. Decides its breakdown category, and whether it can be an exam.
Track — general, lecture or tutorial: which strand of the course an assessment belongs to.
Breakdown — the weighted categories that turn a group's marks into one course grade. Weights total exactly 100. See The coursework breakdown.
Exam — a quiz, midterm or final exam delivered in Quorum, on a timer, marked automatically. Pro plan. See How exams work.
Attempt — one student's sitting of an exam, from start to submission.
Access code — an optional code students must type to start an exam.
People
Owner — whoever created the group. The group's usage counts against their plan.
Shared owner — a team member with the same control as the owner.
TA — a team member who runs sessions, fixes attendance and enters grades, but deletes nothing and cannot manage exams. See What a TA can and cannot do.
Plans and billing
Plan — Free, Plus or Pro. See Choosing a plan.
Limit (quota) — how many groups, students, sessions a month and team members a plan allows. Account-wide. See Limits at a glance.
Entitlement — what your account is allowed right now. Usually your plan, but a pause, a lapsed payment or a grant from the Quorum team can change it.
Trial — the 14 free days that start your first card subscription. See Your free trial.
Pause — 60 days without billing, at Free limits, offered when you start to cancel. See Pause for a semester break.
InstaPay — paying in Egyptian pounds by bank transfer, one period at a time. See Pay with InstaPay.
Credit — money in your account from referrals, spent on your next payment.
