What a TA can and cannot do
A group has one owner — whoever created it — and can have two kinds of team member:
- Shared Owner — full control, the same as you. For a co-instructor.
- TA — runs the day-to-day work of the group, and deletes nothing.
The short version: a TA can do the teaching work, but cannot delete anything, cannot manage exams, and cannot change the group or its team.

A TA who tries something outside their role is told so in plain words — Only owners can remove students, Only owners can manage exams — rather than failing silently.
Deletion is owner-only
Every action that removes data — a student, a session, an assessment, the group itself — belongs to owners. A TA can add and change things, and every change to a mark and every attendance override is written to the group's activity log with who made it and when.
So you can hand a group to a TA without worrying that a slip of the mouse takes a term's grades with it. What a TA can still get wrong is data entry — a grade typed into the wrong row, an override on the wrong student — and the activity log is how you find and undo that.
The grading policy is shared: a TA can change what present, late, excused and absent are worth, and the late cutoff. That changes the grade for every student in the group, so agree on it before the term starts.
Shared owners
A shared owner has everything you have on that group: they can delete, manage exams, archive or delete the group, and add or remove team members. Invite one only when someone genuinely co-runs the course. The group still belongs to you — its usage counts against your plan, and a shared owner cannot remove you.
Why billing is never shared
Billing belongs to the account, not the group. A TA has their own Quorum account with its own plan; helping with your group does not give them anything of yours, and does not cost them anything.

What a TA sees
Only groups shared with them, plus their own. Their dashboard, their search, and their notifications are all scoped that way — a student in a group they were not invited to does not exist as far as they are concerned.
